Check the websites beginning March 29th or call these numbers to get rental assistance In March the following agencies will start receiving applications for Covid 19 rental assistance these are federal funds and will have strict guidelines 

Start checking in March for the application 

Do not wait until you receive an eviction notice. You can apply for preventive assistance as well.  You can also apply for assistance to help you move however they will not locate the apartment or rental home) in addition they are federal funds and applicants will be placed in system for tracking. There are income guidelines and the guidelines will be on their websites. 

Keep copies of everything and document who you speak to and emails. Please note you will only be able to receive assistance from one agency.

Locate your documents for your interview with caseworker 

Identification card 

Unemployment letter approved or denial letter

2019 tax information 

Information on all people that reside in your house ( social security card, I’d)

If there are 2 adults in the house and one person lost their job  or income then both of you would be on the application 

School information for your children ( proof of enrollment)

Separation notice from employment

Lease, ledger, late notices if you have one

Last 30 days of bank statement ( just in case they ask)

Past due utility bill

 

If you already receive federal rental assistance( section 8 or project based assistance you may not qualify for assistance)
